Optimization

Coratek conducted a perioperative IT utilization and optimization assessment for two recently-merged healthcare systems. Recommendations from the assessment were used to standardize definitions, practices and metrics; target cost reduction opportunities/ and prepare the organization for a health system-wide perioperative system conversion.

System Administration

Coratek is currently providing a nationally ranked tertiary medical center and teaching facility with Periop system administration and help desk support during a major EHR conversion. Through Coratek’s assistance and expertise, the client is able to provide its end users with seamless support while the medical center’s IT staff focuses on the implementation of the new system.

Implementation

Coratek is currently providing a mid-Atlantic 75 OR nationally ranked tertiary medical center and teaching facility with implementation expertise in the areas of discrete clinical data interfaces and OR report conversions while the medical center undergoes a Periop and Anesthesia system conversion.

Interim Staffing

Coratek was retained to immediately step in and fill a vacant perioperative system administrator role for an acute care hospital in southern Florida. Coratek’s skills and expertise allowed a smooth transition of support with no negative impact on end users. In addition to filling the administrator role, Coratek undertook and completed ongoing outstanding projects- i.e. interface of the periop item master with the hospital’s materials management system- and provided one-on-one training and support to the newly hired system administrator.

System Build & Standardization

Coratek provided perioperative system build, data migration including data scrubbing and standardizing of naming conventions, software testing (unit and interface testing), implementation, project management, go-live expertise and support for a nationwide implementation of a “best of breed” national perioperative system.

Meaningful Use Data Collection

Coratek assisted an international EHR vendor with the rollout and direct customer activation support for the Vendor’s ARRA/Meaningful Use solutions. Coratek’s team members assisted the vendor and their customers with the aggregation of clinical data collection from disparate systems, provided subject matter expertise on Quality eMeasures, and conducted hands-on training and education to 200+ customers’ (stakeholders) regarding Meaningful Use (MU) and the use of the MU data analytics tool for performance improvement.

Operational Assessment

In response to Surgeons’ threats to take their business elsewhere the Executive Committee of a 10-OR facility requested Coratek conduct a rapid-turnaround operational assessment of the entire perioperative process. The Coratek team analyzed current data and workflows, provided recommendations for improved patient throughput as well as methods to increase staff, patient and surgeon satisfaction. Subsequent to the assessment recommendations and based on some of the immediate improvements, the Surgeons increased (vs decreased) the amount of cases performed at the client’s site.

Workflow Redesign

Coratek facilitated the restructuring of a 10 OR acute care hospital’s PreAdmission Testing (PAT) department; streamlining the preoperative preparation process, improving patient readiness and increasing surgeon satisfaction. The PAT had previously undergone several unsuccessful corporate transformation attempts. Coratek was successful in redesigning the workflow, increasing the patient chart readiness and improving communication between the hospital, patients and surgeons’ offices.
